Frome Academy welcomed Oldfield Old Boys, for a Somerset League fixture on Sunday 15th September. The game began with three dominant scrums for the home team, that had Oldfield marching backwards. It was a pattern that continued throughout the game. With the Front Row of Oscar Stickley, Freddie Corp and Ollie Andrews dominating all afternoon.
After three minutes, there was a yellow card for the away side. Frome made the man advantage pay, they recycled the ball well. Brennan Doyle attacked into the oppositions half and Ewan Cox carrying well. Quick ball from Alfie Newbery down the blind side gave Toby Cassidy some space and he did not disappoint, scoring one handed in corner, for an early 5 - 0 lead.
Cassidy doubled his try tally after a quick  tap, from Newbery, led to an attacking scrum. From which Fin Van Gorph kicked into space, for Cassidy to gather and score under the posts. The score was 12 - 0 within five minutes. The boot of Van Gorph caused havoc all half.
The home crowd had to wait another ten minutes to cheer again, as Harry Greenwood stole the ball from the back of the line out, to score a well taken try. Van Gorph slotted the extra’s from the touchline.
With the score still at 19 - 0, a dominant carry from Andrews, who carried defenders with him. This was followed by another break from Cox.
From another dominant scrum, Newbery and Kimi Endicott hassled the Oldfield 9 and 10 relentlessly. This led to a loose kick, that Laurie White gathered well, before feeding Zac Sibley who attacked with intent before being narrowly held short of line.
On the stroke of half-time, Frome pressured the oppositions line-out again. Cox stole the ball from the tail and romped home from halfway. For a 26 - 0 half time score.

After 10 minutes, a line-out strike move out Greenwood into space, he chewed up the meters, before finding Stickley, then Neo Davies. Quick hands followed and Doyle finished well in the corner.
Oldfield scored a try of their own, sustained pressure leading to an intercept try. The score stood at 36 - 5.
After a good defensive read from Endicott the ball was turned over. Simple hands, then Andrews popped up in midfield to pass ball onto Doyle, who scored a carbon copy of his earlier try.
In centre of the field, with twenty minutes gone, Cox found space in the loose, and again ran in from halfway. To score to make it 48 - 5.
Into the final minutes of the half, following a line out, there was a huge drive from Frome. The pack were just short of the line and the ball went into midfield, where Will Ibbitson pirouetted past three defenders - to score.
