Today we are #GettingToKnow Frome RFC’s Aaron Blaney.
| When was your first XV debut? I think I played my first friendly game for the club in 2011 against Castle Carey, and about six months after that I had my first run out for the first team after a late call up from Phil Meenan
| What has been your best Frome RFC moment? The performances from Christmas up until the playoffs last season were incredible. Every game was like a cup final and to go unbeaten, including winning against Sherborne in the last minutes of the last game, was just a phenomenal effort from the whole squad and club. Following that maybe we deserved a different result in the playoff.
| What Netflix show do you binge? Brooklyn 99 and The Thick Of It - different ends of the spectrum, but pretty much every day
| What food is your guilty pleasure? All of them.
| What is your prematch song? The prodigy - Spitfire. But always That's Amore by Dean Martin after a win!
| What advice would you give someone getting into rugby union? Do as much as you can, as often as you can, for as long as you can. You'll make lifelong friendships and will always have somewhere that you're welcomed.
| Which player, past or present would you most like to play with? When you stop playing you realise how much you'd like to do it again with anybody! But Garrie Webster, Elliot, Reggie, Jonny Benstead...I could name a dozen. But most of all I'd like to have shared a pitch with Claude Nichols and Bill Griggs.
| What hobby would you like to take up? Powerlifting.
| Who is the funniest Frome RFC teammate?
Everyone at the club offers their own sense of humour, quirks and foibles; which I think is great and makes the club what it is. But James Milton just cracks me up on and off the pitch.
| What sport would you play if you weren’t a rugby player? Cricket... I could have been a contender, Charley.
| Favourite film? Man on Fire & Ten things I Hate About You.
| How are you staying fit during isolation? Jogging unfortunately. And lifting, carrying and throwing anything I can find.
| Who’s your sporting hero? Ian Botham, Darren Gough, Michael Atherton. Dan Cole.
| Do you have any prematch rituals or superstitions? I like to tape up, collect my thoughts about the game and what I'm trying to do, and a light warm up - largely to find out which other parts of me I need to strap up or see the physio with before going out. And always left side first for taping, strapping, socks and boots.
| What advice do you have for people during lockdown? Just get through it.
Tomorrow we catch up with Frome RFC’s Andrew Greenwood.
