Community at Frome RFC

At Frome Rugby Football Club, we are much more than a sports club—we are a vibrant, inclusive community hub serving Frome and the surrounding East Somerset and West Wiltshire area. We believe that grassroots sport has the power to bring people together, foster lifelong friendships, improve physical and mental well-being, and build a stronger, healthier local community.

Whether you are a player, supporter, volunteer, sponsor, or local resident looking for a welcoming environment, Frome RFC has a place for you.

Grassroots Sport for All Ages & Abilities

We pride ourselves on offering rugby and physical activity opportunities for everyone in our town, regardless of age, background, or skill level:

  • Mighty Minis & Junior Rugby: Providing safe, engaging, and fun rugby training every Sunday morning for children aged 5 to 18. We focus on core values—Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship—helping young people stay active and build confidence.

  • Senior Men’s Teams: Offering competitive and recreational rugby options for adults to support lifelong participation in physical activity.

  • Touch & Walking Rugby: Inclusive, low-impact versions of the game designed for all fitness levels, older adults, and those returning from injury or looking for fun, non-contact sport.

A Facilities Hub for Frome

Our clubhouse and grounds at Gypsy Lane are a shared asset for the wider Frome community. Beyond matchdays, our facilities serve as a location for:

  • Local Community Groups: Hosting local exercise classes, social gatherings, and community meetings.

  • Events & Celebrations: Providing an affordable, versatile venue for private functions, charity fundraisers, and local events.

  • Open Green Spaces: Preserving and maintaining valuable open sports fields for local families and youth.

Social Impact & Volunteering

Frome RFC is run entirely by dedicated local volunteers—from coaches and team managers to safeguarding officers, committee members, and matchday staff.

  • Volunteer Opportunities: We actively welcome volunteers from across the community to gain skills, build connections, and give back to local sport.

  • Youth Safeguarding & Wellbeing: The safety, protection, and welfare of our young participants is central to everything we do. We strictly adhere to national governing body safeguarding standards to provide a safe, nurturing environment for all.

  • Local Partnerships: We actively collaborate with local schools, businesses, and charitable organisations to expand access to sport and support local initiatives.

Get Involved

We are always looking to welcome new faces to the Frome RFC family!

  • Join as a Member or Player: Whether you want to play, coach, or support from the sidelines, everyone is welcome.

  • Socialise With Us: You don't have to play rugby to enjoy the club! We have a fully licensed bar open to the public—you don't need to be a member to drop in, watch a match, or relax with friends. However, taking out a Social Membership is a great way to support the club while enjoying a discount on drinks at the bar.
  • Volunteer With Us: Have a skill to share? We are always looking for help with coaching, events, administration, and groundkeeping.

  • Partner With Us: Local businesses can support our grass-roots work through sponsorship and collaborative community projects.
