Royal Wootton Bassett RFC II 31 - 14 Frome RFC
Report by Trevor Osborne
The Frome RFC 1st XV travelled to table topping Royal Wootton Bassett RFC 2nd XV on Saturday hoping to build on their big win from the previous week.
The home side showed why they are top of the table with great display and put Frome under constant pressure but some top defence from the visitors lead by Flanker, Murray White and Scrum Half, Billy James restricted the league leaders to 2 tries.
With half time approaching Frome broke down the middle and were awarded a penalty in front of the posts which Second Row, James Howard converted to leave the half time score at 12-3.
HT: RWB RFC II 12 - 3 Frome RFC
Frome started the second half in a positive mood but the home side continued to dominate exchanges and increased their lead with a couple of well worked tries.
The visitors continued to work hard and after breaks from replacement Stevan Randall and Dumo Ndluvo hit back with 2 Howard penalties.
Royal Wootton Bassett scored a further try, but the visitors got a consolation try when the ball was worked out wide for Winger Rob Sully to score in the corner.
A difficult day at the office for Frome who now have a week off to prepare for the visit of Devizes RFC who are presently second in Counties 1 Tribute Southern South.
