Frome RFC 10 - 24 Salisbury RFC
Report by Trevor Osborne
Frome RFC welcomed Wiltshire rivals Salisbury RFC to Gypsy Lane looking to put on a performance for a crowd boasted by 120+ guests attending the annual reunion dinner alongside the Frome Faithful.
Despite playing up the slight lope and into the wind the home side started brightly with the Backline combining well to create space, but a strong Salisbury defence kept them at bay.
The large Salisbury pack started to exert pressure on the Frome line and from a five metre scrum the No.8 barged over the line to score a converted try.
From the kick off the ball went into touch and a great steal at the line out from No.8 Matt Smith set up a driving maul and Second Row, Stevan Randall touched down for Frome, Fly Half Henry Bull adding the extras to bring the scores level.
The visitors regained the lead when Frome were adjudged to have transgressed on the line and Salisbury were awarded a penalty try.
Frome continued to press and after a bullocking run up the middle by Flanker Murray White, desperate Salisbury defence resulted in Frome penalty which was duly converted by Bull.
