Walcot RFC 24 - 12 Frome RFC
Report by Trevor Osborne
Frome travelled to Bath to meet old rivals Walcot RFC expecting a hard game against a side sitting forth in the league.
Frome started brightly and a break down the Wing by Rob Sully saw them briefly threaten the home sides line however a penalty allowed Walcot to clear their lines.
The home side took an early lead when the Scrum Half broke from the side of the ruck and chipped over the top and collected his own kick to touch down for a converted try.
Frome hit back immediately when forwards, Alex Mallon and James Howard created space for Centre Ethan White to score out wide.
Walcot increased their lead when Frome transgressed at the break down in front of the posts for a penalty converted by the home fly half.
Frome continued to put phases together with Josh Hills and Stevan Randall carrying hard and eventually Fly Half, Simon Westlake found Centre Cory Plumridge who looked to have scored in the corner but the referee adjudged that the defender had stopped Cory illegally and awarded a penalty try.
Walcot looked certain to score when the winger broke down the wing but a great covering tackle by Flanker, Joe Benning thwarted the attack. Frome turned around with a slender 12-10 lead.

The second half started with Walcot using the slope to their advantage pinning Frome on their own half however superb defence kept the home side at bay for 20 minutes however despite some great defence by the whole team Walcot eventually found space to score a converted try to retake the lead.
The home side continued to press and increased their lead with another converted try. Frome then had a period of pressure but despite putting together a number of phases they were unable to breach the Walcot defence.
The final whistle brought a hard fought game to the end with the home side running out 24-12 winners.
