Frome RFC III 36 - 7 Nailsea & Backwell RFC III

Frome welcomed their good friends from Nailsea & Backwell to The Lane on Saturday.
The home started brightly with the Forward Pack working well and some strong carries from Flanker Will Button and Centre Mike Rutt.
The forwards continued the strong start making good ground to allow Rutt to burst over and start the scoring, the conversion just going wide.
Frome continued to dominate from the restart with good carries from the forwards got the side into a good position in the 22.
The Nailsea & Backwell defence were stretched and Fly Half, Dom Jones dotted down from close range. The conversion going wide.
From the restart Nailsea & Backwell managed to get a foot hold in the game with some good hard running. A penalty against Frome saw the visitors take a quick tap and burst through under the sticks for a 7 pointer.
Frome regathered the kick off and straight into the 22 with some great running lines from the backs got us in a great position. The ball worked wide to Captain, Toby Reilly who was pushed over the line to score. Conversion added.
Frome continued the pressure before the end of the half and Reilly hit a line from scrum half Rutt to go through untouched. Conversion added.
Nailsea started better in the 2nd half with some great runs and working the ball out wide, Frome defence held firm with some great tackling from Josh white, Alex Buckley and Dom Jones.
A scrum to Frome on the half way saw the ball worked wide to Reilly who would run and hand off several would be tacklers to score on the corner. Conversion missed.
The tussle continued in the middle of the park with both teams battling hard at the breakdown. And working hard in both defence and attack.
Another dominant Frome scrum saw the ball worked wide again to Reilly who ran the rest of the pitch to score under the posts. Conversion added.
The visitors continued to battle hard and worked their way into the Frome 22. Some great work at the breakdown from the Frome forwards were able to turn the ball over and kick the ball out for a well deserved victory.

Player of the Match went to Flanker, Josh White for his strong defensive display and Prop, Ali Fisher for his big carries and hard work in the scrum.
