Frome RFC 47 - 15 Trowbridge II
Frome RFC got their 2026/27 league campaign off to the perfect start with a convincing 47-15 victory over Trowbridge II at The Lane.
The hosts ran in seven tries, with scores coming from Cory Plumridge (2), Alastair Turpin, Sam Cassidy, Rowan Walton, Alex Mallon and Max Stickley, as Frome produced an impressive all-round performance to secure maximum points from their opening fixture.
A dominant display in both attack and defence saw James Howard deservedly named Player of the Match, with the second row putting in a tireless performance throughout.
Following the match, Head Coach Garrie Webster said:
“A good first shift from the players. Very happy with the effort put in and the quality they showed against a well-drilled Trowbridge side. There was a good mix of experience leading from the front and youth bringing energy and work rate. I’m particularly pleased with the effort to prevent the try bonus point, which showed the ruthlessness we’ll need to do well in this league. It’s early days, but it’s a good start.”
After the opening round of fixtures, Frome sit top of Counties 1 Tribute Ale Southern South and will look to build on their strong start when they travel to Melksham next weekend.
