Having not played for three weeks, a bit of rustiness was inevitable from both sides, and this was definitely an untidy affair. You could tell that both teams were struggling to find their rhythm, and their breath. In parts, however, there was some very good rugby played, and both Clubs will take encouragement from their performance and hope to find more consistency in the weeks ahead. The disappointment from our perspective was that we were unable to capitalise on a very promising situation - a 27 point lead with half an hour to play - and instead ceded the momentum to Thatcham, who played with massive perseverance in the closing stages. We will reflect on the many good passages of play we constructed and on some excellent tries scored. There's plenty to work on but nothing that can't be remedied with some hard work at training this week. We'll be ready for next week's crunch match at Grove.”
Final Score:
Frome RFC 30 - 12 Thatcham RFC
The Frome RFC 1st XV Man of the Match, sponsored by The Old Bath Arms, Frome went to Second Row Michael Duppa-Miller.
Frome RFC maintain 2nd place in Southern Counties South and travel to top spot Grove RFC on Saturday.
