Chippenham RFC

44 - 7

(HT 0-0)

Frome RFC

Having finished off 2019 with a convincing win over Bradford on Avon RFC 1st, the Frome RFC 2nd XV we’re in high spirits in the build up to the first game of 2020.
Unfortunately Captain Owen Davies was unavailable through injury so Centre Ethan White would take charge for the day.
The Frome men made the short trip to Chippenham RFC and were faced with a much changed side to the one they encountered earlier in the season.
It was the hosts who’d be on the board first at 7mins with the visitors napping the gap being found on the fringe to cross over for a try.
With Frome keen to get a grip on the game early on, unforced errors would be the downfall as giving Chippenham multiple chances to attack but some last gasp tackles held them out.
Frome’s first and only try came after the Forwards took control, and after being held up over the line multiple times it was No.8 James Milton who crashed over, with Fly Half Ben Eley adding the conversion at 28mins.
Flanker Lewis Hayes would unfortunately have to leave the field before halftime having suffered a broken nose and fractured cheek during play - we wish him a speedy and safe recovery.
Chippenham would cross over the try line wide just before the half time whistle with the halftime score of 10-7 to the hosts.
The second half was certainly one to forget for visitors with Chippenham scoring two quick try’s following the restart. Unable to get a hold on the game, and the side going down to 14 men for a spell of the game, the side were unable to stop the constant attack with Chippenham scoring 6 unanswered tries.

Final Score:
Chippenham RFC II 44 - 7 Frome RFC II
The Frome RFC 2nd XV Man of the Match award, sponsored by The Old Bath Arms, Frome went to Fullback Matt Warnock.
The Frome RFC 2nd XV will regather during the week as they prepare for another battle on Saturday at home against Wiltshire side Trowbridge RFC 2nd.
