Swanage & Wareham 107 - 5 Frome RFC II

Report by Andy Vince

The Frome RFC 2nd XV travelled to the Coast for their latest away game against Swanage & Wareham RFC 1st XV.

Unfortunately it was always going to be ‘one of those days’ having been dealt multiple blows, due to injuries and unavailability prior to the weekends fixture. As the game kicked off it was clear to see that the varying range of fitness and ability would play a key part.

The visitors kept out the home side for the first 15mins and even managed to get a score of their own, unfortunately the Swanage & Wareham were far too well drilled for the Frome defence and it turned into a very difficult afternoon and despite some amazing tackling from Full Back John Spencer the tries kept coming.

The Final Score reflecting the gulf between the two sides meant in a final score of 107-5.

Team Manager, Andy Vince commented “It was a very hard day at the office, the lads kept going right to the bitter end. The Gulf was clear to see and fitness proved to be our undoing. A huge thank you to all the players that stepped up to the squad when needed this weekend”

Player of the Match was awarded to Full Back John Spencer, don’t think he missed many tackles today and attacked well when he got the chance.

The Frome RFC 2nd XV welcome bath based Walcot RFC 1st XV to The Lane this weekend.
