Today’s #GettingToKnow the Frome RFC 1st XV & Club Captain, John Benstead.

| When was your first XV debut? Away against Trowbridge RFC in 2015, I came on as a replacement and tackled their Prop and I broke 2 ribs.

| What has been your best Frome RFC moment? Captaining the 1st XV in last seasons Play Off fixture at Home, it was a very special day (despite the score) and one I’ll never forget.

| Toughest player you’ve come up against? The Devizes RFC Outside Centre, has pace and a hell of a hand off.

| What Netflix show do you binge? Afterlife, can’t wait for the new series to begin.

| What food is your guilty pleasure? Sweets, mostly Fruit Pastels.

| What is your prematch song? The Fugees, Ready or Not.

| What advice would you give someone getting into rugby union? Enjoy it, once your in you’ll make friends for life.

| Which player, past or present would you most like to play with? My old man, just one game, would have been special. He loved the sport and the club.

| What hobby would you like to take up? Golf, wish I had more time to play.

| Who is the funniest Frome RFC teammate? Aaron Blaney, he doesn’t play anymore but I think he should make a return.

| What sport would you play if you weren’t a rugby player? Darts.

| Favourite film? Hot Fuzz, a must watch every time it’s on.

| How are you staying fit during isolation? Cycling.

| Who’s your sporting hero? When I was younger it was Lee Mears, probably because he was small and I played the same position.

| Do you have any prematch rituals or superstitions? I text my Girlfriend before we leave the changing room every game.

| What advice do you have for people during lockdown? Keep busy, talk to family friends as much as possible. Hopefully this will be over soon and we can get back to rugby. Stay safe!
