Today we are #GettingToKnow former 1st XV player Darren Bowles...

| When was your first XV debut? I remember my first start, it was in 2009 at home against Wimborne. My first touch of the ball, I got tackled and broke my leg - good times!

| What has been your best Frome RFC moment? There have been a lot of great memories whilst playing at Frome, I think the stand out was beating Dorset Dockers at Home.

| What Netflix show do you binge? My wife and I are binge watching Homeland, it’s good but I hate the main character..

| What food is your guilty pleasure? I love all food, except Pate, it’s weird.

| What is your prematch song? I don’t really have a prematch song, a good Will Button speech was all I needed.

| What advice would you give someone getting into rugby union? I feel all the motivational quotes have been said so just enjoy it.

| Which player, past or present would you most like to play with? The past player would have to be Ivor Palmer, a learnt so much from him, but I’d love to play in Jim Pearces 2nd XV again.

| What hobby would you like to take up? Some kind of competitive eating??

| Who is the funniest Frome RFC teammate? Jim Pearce is hilarious, I also laugh at anything Mike Rutt says.

| What sport would you play if you weren’t a rugby player? I’m literally rubbish at any other sport.

| Favourite film? Lord of The Rings.

| How are you staying fit during isolation? Just the usual stuff, tipping cows and pulling tree..

| Who’s your sporting hero? I always saw a lot of myself in Nick Easter, but players like Richie McCaw & Richard Hill we’re brilliant.

| Do you have any prematch rituals or superstitions? I always have a bacon sandwich and at least two poos.

|What advice do you have for people during lockdown? Just try and stay positive, keep in contact with family and friends and especially the elderly.
