Today we catch up with Frome RFC’s Chris Burgess as we ask our #GettingToKnow questions.

| When was your first XV debut? 1997/1998 not sure of the game but I recall being 17years old full of confidence and getting sat on my Ass with a very big wake up call to senior rugby.

| What has been your best Frome RFC moment? So many moments have been great but the best has been able to play at the Rec and will be a story that I continue to tell.

| What Netflix show do you binge? How to get away with murder.

| What food is your guilty pleasure? Pizza

| What is your prematch song? St Elmos Fire (John Parr) it’s a song that’s stuck in my head for years and always gives me an uplifted feeling.

| What advice would you give someone getting into rugby union? Don’t hesitate, get yourself to your local club and make friends, don’t worry about your experience as there is always someone worse lol.

| Which player, past or present would you most like to play with? Frome Fly half Phil Powell ... his legendary side step was a thing of beauty.

| What hobby would you like to take up? Golf but I have never had the time to commit to getting better at it.

| Who is the funniest Frome RFC teammate? Mark Oshea has such a dry sense of humour but always has me in stitches.

| What sport would you play if you weren’t a rugby player? I would have loved to play running back in American Football.

| Favourite film? Usual Suspects, every time it comes on I end up watching he whole thing even though I know what’s coming it still has me gripped.

| How are you staying fit during isolation? With plenty of trips up and down the stairs from my office during the day to get biscuits for my cups of tea.

| Who’s your sporting hero? Jonny Wilkinson stands out as he battled with depression and anxiety his whole life and in a time when men didn’t really open up he did and was always open about he felt and didn’t allow this to define him, he used it to become a great leader.

| Do you have any prematch rituals or superstitions? every time I run out on to the pitch I bend down, grab a chunk of grass/mud and rub it between my hands (I’ve done this every game since I was 16).

| What advice do you have for people during lockdown? Enjoy the slower pace of life and make the most of the extra time to get in touch with family and friends that you always put off before lockdown.

Tomorrow we catch up with with to Frome RFC player Rob James.
