#GettingToKnow former Frome RFC 2nd XV Captain Jim Pearce...
| When was your first XV debut? 2008 vs Wadebridge Camels RFC in the Cup, I was Captaining the 2nd XV at the time but got a late shout. I started and was promised 40 mins max. Ended up staying on all game and it went to extra time. We won but the emotional scarring from playing 110 mins of 1st team rugby when I was due to be playing Westbury 2nds away still runs deep . . .!
| What has been your best Frome RFC moment? Luckily I have many great memories from my playing days but beating Weymouth 1st team away with my then second team 8 -5, giving them their 1st home defeat in over 18 months, coupled with it being a fun bus outing still makes me smile to this day.
| What Netflix show do you binge Or favorite TV show? Just watching Ozark and the Michael Jordan documentary, both of which were really good.
| What food is your guilty pleasure? My psychiatrist says I should no longer feel guilty about eating any foods and we are now past that stage in my battle against morbid obesity.
| What is your prematch song? Freestylers-Security.
| What advice would you give someone getting into rugby union? Enjoy every second, become fully integrated in something that you will never quite appreciate the value of til you stop doing it.
Oh ,and if John Moss is waving you down his blindside to run at him...don't do it...it's a trap..!
| Which player, past or present would you most like to play with? Have seen his name pop up on a few of these already, but there was always something enjoyable about playing with my big brother Math Pearce.
I mean yeah, he did punch me in the back of the head in a 20 man free for all against Minehead, which saw me getting carted off to hospital to get my head glued back together but every team I played in with him in it always felt stronger.
| What hobby would you like to take up? I already cycle a lot and whisper it very quietly, but have recently started running again.
| Who is the funniest Frome RFC teammate? Played with many comedians over the years.
Purely for his baiting of the opposition crowd and players, would have to say Andrew Doel - That man can start a fight in an empty room.
| What sport would you play if you weren’t a rugby player? Football has always been my passion but not having a single fast twitch muscle fibre in my body, rugby was the game of choice to play so in a dream world I am playing up top for Everton.
| Favourite film? Inception.
| How are you staying fit during isolation? Cycling lots, running some and eating less.
| Who’s your sporting hero? Oumar Niasse.
| Do you have any prematch rituals or superstitions? Get my wife to check my kitbag with me before I leave the house. Heave lots from about 11am as the nerves kick in (Never did manage to master those pre match nerves).
| What advice do you have for people during lockdown? Ring your parents/grandparents if you are fortunate still to have them. They miss you more than you realise.
