The 2024 Paul Lovatt Cup Festive ‘Town v Gown’ fixture saw the Town XV take the spoils this year.
The Annual fixture, now in its 10th year, see la the friendly fixture played over the holidays when we welcome back players and supporters who have moved away or at studying at university. With plenty of Christmas cheer the game is highly anticipated always gathering a huge crowd.
We caught up with the man himself, Mr Paul Lovatt, who commented “I wish to express my gratitude to the club for hosting another very successful " Paul Lovatt Cup" game yesterday!
A close encounter in a competitive match finishing 36-35, thank you to both teams for putting on an entertaining game of rugby.
Very grateful to Roger Gilson for refereeing, allowing the game to flow, also for organising the post match refreshments & food for the players which was much appreciated.
Both James Howard & Simon Bates for organising the teams so efficiently, providing a fine spectacle for the many local rugby supporters & enthusiasts. I was one of many who thoroughly enjoyed the friendship & hospitality of Frome RFC following the game.
If I have overlooked anyone thank you to you for your involvement in making this day one to remember.”
